Carl Gustav Jung was born at Kesswil, Switzerland on 26 July 1875. Jung was an only child for the first ten years of his life, and lived largely in a world of the imagination. After getting his medical degrees, he continued this inner focus. He corresponded with Sigmund Freud with relish, but came to reject Freud's emphasis on sex as the root of his patients's problems.
